Williams Spoils Jeffs' Perfect Season

Mike McAdam carried a 2-yard run into the endzone with 30 seconds remaining to post a 19-13 upset of the once undefeated Jeffs. McAdam capped off a 98-yard drive that consumed almost five minutes to hand Amherst their tenth consecutive loss to the Ephs. With this victory, the Ephs won the Little III Title.

Amherst had entered the game as the favored 7-0 team and took a 10-6 lead into the second half after David Bobruff '97 nailed a 22-yard field goal with 34 seconds left in the second quarter. Williams' Kevin Sendleski reclaimed the lead for the Ephs with a 26-yard catch from quarterback Peter Supino. Supino threw 15 for 32 passes for 206 yards and two touchdown passes for the day. But the teams flip-flopped again with another Bobruff field goal early in the fourth.

McAdam had only eight carries for 18-yards, but he had the one that counts. Tri-Captain Josh Mason '97 started the final game of his college career and had 36 carries for 145 yards to lead all rushers. With this performance, Mason upped the career rushing record to 2,916 yards.

Amherst's early lead was the first time the Ephs were behind in the 90's. Williams spoiled an undefeated season for the Jeffs for the fifth time in the history of this 111-game rivalry.
