Field Hockey wins first ever NCAA game
Jeffs defeat Skidmore in penalty strokes to move to NCAA Field Hockey Semifinals

Amherst College beat Skidmore 4-3 in a penalty stroke tiebreaker to advance to the NCAA semifinals.

Marcy Busch and Alie Stechenberg erased Amherst's 3-1 half-time deficit on goals in the second half. Jeff goalie Beth Sensing made nine of her 11 saves as the team's battled through two 15 minute sudden victory overtimes. Sensing stopped Skidmore's penalty stroke with 14:29 to play in the second overtime.

Sensing came on big again in the penalty stroke tiebreaker stopping two of three Skidmore shots on net. Stechenberg, Bowe, and Darcy Sweeney converted penalty strokes for Amherst. Jodi Wheeler had the Skidmore stroke.

Wheeler had a goal and an assist in regulation for Skidmore. Jennifer Collins and Lacey French had the other Skidmore goals.

The Skidmore Thouroghbreds end the season at 18-2. The Jeffs' season record is now 14-2.

The Jeffs will play Cortland State this Saturday in the NCAA Semifinals.
