At Tufts March 29th
Performer of the Meet - Josiah Terrell-Perica
A small contingent of the team got the outdoor season under way at the aptly named Snowflake Classic at Tufts. The majority of the mid and distance runners stayed back home and did a workout in the morning, while most of the sprinters and field event crew headed to Tufts to kick things off. Josiah Terrell-Perica wasted no time showing that he intends to build upon last year's success in the javelin as he not only won the event but also added a couple of feet to his PR, heaving the spear over 187 feet. The 4x100 relay of Javy Paulino, Josh Young, Khalil Flemming and Thomas Matthew came through just under 45 seconds and grabbing a 7th place finish. All four "warmed up" for the relay with the 100m shortly beforehand, with TMatt coming through with the fastest time of the day for the team with his 11.49 clocking and 19th place overall, with Josh and Javy at 11.78 and 11.81. Khalil and Steve Hetterich finished 11th and 16th in the long jump, with both guys getting out over the 6 meter mark. Steve came back to run the 400, as Dennis Kennelly just missed dipping under 54 seconds with Steve a couple of ticks back, and even TMatt got in on the quarter mile action after having done a couple of short sprints. Cole Hawkins and Sam Wohlforth represented the running crew, as they both competed in the same section of the 1500 with Cole taking the crown as he placed 3rd in their section running 4:26 with Sam just dipping under 4:30. The full team will be in action at American International College this coming Saturday.
