Meet Recap:

Runner of the Meet - Kevin Connors

After a bit of an off race the week before in which we didn't seem to recover as well as we needed to and just seemed real flat, the guys came down to Colts Neck State Park in Rhode Island for the ECAC Championships and showed what they could do with fresh legs. While the Top 7 from NESCAC's sat out in preparation for next weekend's NCAA Qualifying race at USM, it gave our next group an opportunity to race and factor directly into the scoring. Focusing on competing and putting themselves into the fray, the guys got off the line well and put forth their best efforts of the season. Gus Greenstein was never out of the top 10 right from the start, and while he has had some struggles with the finishing stretch, he got it figured out today as he came home in 9th to ern All-ECAC honors and run his best time of the season. Kevin Connors was out in the Top 10-15 right from the beginning, and while this was far more aggressive then any race this year and admittedly was a bit of a cause for concern, he put any doubt to rest as he stayed right in the fray, finishing awesome to grab 11th overall and knock over 45 seconds off his best time of the season. Classmate Ben Fiedler got out well, around 20-25 or so for the first mile and then continued to move up throughout the race, and came in just 3 second behind Kevin while grabbing the final All-ECAC spot (15th) and running his best time of the season. Jeff Seelaus would also finish in the Top 20 while Romey Sklar would close out the scoring with his 31st place finish to help the team finish 3rd overall. Jess Fajnzylber and Sam Wohlforth - after a long lay off from racing had great races, with Jesse running a bit quicker then he had this season and Sam being right on the money for his best mark from earlier despite the lay off and a call to action due to illness of another runner. On average, the guys were about 30 seconds faster then they had been the week before on a faster course and certainly helps to inspire confidence and extra fire for those guys who will take to the line on Saturday at USM as they try to grab a ticket to the NCAA Championships.
