Meet Recap

Performers of the Meet - Will Yochum and Liz Dalton

Due to the recent flu outbreak reported on campus, there was some question as to whether or not we would be competing but clearance from medical personnel gave the team the opportunity to test their mettle against the other DIII teams in the region. Both teams finished in the same scoring position - 14th - and saw many great performances on the day. Will Yochum had the best finish of the day for the men in an individual event as he grabbed a 3rd place finish in a very competitive 1500 field while the 4x400 relay of Tommy Moore, Anthony Fuller, Steve Stewart and Andrew Reed also grabbed a bronze and the 6 points that went along with their 3rd place finish. Jimmy Swanson, after finishing 12th in the 1500 came back even stronger in the 800 to grab a 6th place finish while Yochum was just out of the scoring in 9th place. Sean Legister finished 15th overall in the 100 but improved upon his seed by over 10 places in running 11:41, and then joined with A-Train, Tommy and Andrew in the 4x100 to grab an 8th place finish. John McGrail finished in 7th place in the steeplechase, just off of his time from last week, while Travis Cohoon ran 10:13 in the unseeded section. Ryan Drost had a strong finish in the 400 Hurdles to grab 15th running 58.19. Daniel Murner finished 6th in the 5k while Spencer Russell grabbed 9th place in the High Hurdles - just missing making the finals by one position.

As she did last week, Susie Wasserman had the best finish for the team, as she grabbed a 5th place finish in the 400 Hurdles, just missing the breaking of the 65 second barrier but lowering her best ever time by nearly a 1/2 second. Liz Dalton had a nice breakthrough in the 5k, as she followed up her PR from last week in the 10k by lowering her best time in the 5k nearly 20 seconds to grab a 7th place finish running 18:08. The quartet of Hoiwan Cheung, Zandra Walton, Molly Priedeman and Melissa Sullivan helped the team cause by placing 5th in the 4x800, while the 4x400 team of Susie, Jenny Mancino, Mary Doris Reggie and Carly Levenson just missed scoring as they placed 9th overall. Zandra, before running the 4x800, got the meet started with a great run in the steeplechase as she easily won the 1st section of two, and grabbed 6th place overall with her 11:35 while Sophie Galleher would finish in 8th, running 11:30 rebounding nicely from last week, and also in the unseeded section, Melissa Pritchard knocked another 8 seconds off her best time. Carly was the fastest 800 runner for the team as she went under 2:20 for the first time this season, running 2:19.92 and placing 14th. Molly and Hoiwan came in just after her, finishing just above 2:20.
