Race Recap

Runners of the Meet - Peter Foote and Liz Dalton

The teams headed to the Colts Neck State park in Bristol RI - a new course which we have never competed at - for the ECAC Championships. WHile several members of the teams sat out to prepare for the upcoming District meet, ECAC's provides a great opportunity for those who might not usually factor in to the scoring to be able to do so in a Championship meet, as well as be able to figure out the rosters for the District races. The women garnered the runner-up trophy for the 2nd year in a row, as they had a great day on the very narrow and windy course that encompassed some grass and lots of tight trails in the woods. Nicole Anderson finished first for the team, and 9th overall running under 24 minutes. Liz Dalton had a very strong race, running the same time from a week before while grabbing 15th place - the final All-Conference position - to join Nicole on the ALL ECAC Team. Coming in succession behind her were Eliza Schalch in 16th, Christina Wong in 17th and Laura Zaccagnino in 18th to complete the scoring. Melissa Pritchard and Cate Knuff each broke the Top 50.

Peter Foote led the men's charge as he had one of his best races to finish 7th overall, earning All ECAC recognition. Steve Corsello finished 21st while Alec Jacobson had a strong race to finish 48th and cap a great first year campaign. John McGrail, who had been battling a cold all week struggled with those symptoms but was still able to help the team scoring, and Ben Klein finished out the Top 5 with his 78th place finish. Ben Mears, after battling through IT Band issues for the last few weeks had hoped to rebound in time to get back in the mix for Districts but an odd ice mishap damaged a nerve in his leg and he was not able to get a lot of push form his foot and had to settle for an 88th place finish with fellow classmate, Kevin Hanley coming in right behind him in 90th.
