Based on the order of finish from 2008 Regionals with individual losses from 08 Regional Meet and their place

Williams - loses Christian 4, Chaffee 12

Return from regionals squad All -Americans Edgar Kosgey (1st) and Jeff Perlis (5th), 14th  Anthony Raduazo, 26th Corey Watts, and 39th Brian Cole. Won ECAC handily which is a testament to their depth, and are easily the deepest team in the region and should have plenty of options to choose from including Mark Springel 5th and David Carlin 17th at ECAC's along with plenty of depth from the following upperclass: Jeff Stenzel, Andrew Gaidus, Connor Kamm, Will Palmer, Josephat Koima, Dyhan Adler-Belendez, Matt Wyatt, Dan Franck, Cullen Roberts, Davis Filippell and a good first year class which includes:  Wade Davis (ME), Tommy Gaidus (NJ), Scott Rodilitz (CA), Dan Silver (CA), Brandon Abasolo (NY) and some others. Mike Geary on junior year abroad this year

Amherst - loses Lakehomer 56, Foote 64

While the men will lose the services of two of their varsity runners from last year, they return the heart of the scoring and should be one of the top teams in the region. All-District runners Will Yochum, Daniel Murner, Carlyle Eubank, Jimmy Swanson and Eric Holaday all have National Championship experience and 08 injured Ben Mears also has run at the Championship and will add experience. Murner set school records in the 5k indoors with his 14:47 and the 10k (30:43) as well as running 14:39 outdoors to qualify for Nationals and has established himself as one of the leading individuals for the fall. Will Bell (3:58) and Steve Corsello (4:15) each had great track seasons in the Mile / 1500 and are looking to the fall with hopes of contributing to the success of the team, as is Steeplechaser John McGrail (9:41). While the region should be a very strong one again, with several teams returning a lot of talent, Amherst hopes to challenge for a NESCAC Championship before setting its sights on the Districts and then trying to break into the Top Ten at the National Championships. A very solid incoming class could help to provide some much needed depth and even see some contributions at the varsity level as they adjust to the increase in distance and the acclimation to college life. Adron Pitmon (VT), Patrick Grimes (MA), Andrew Erskine (CT), and Dillon Buckley (DE) amongst a few other first years should help to build upon the success of the program and provide a great foundation to continue our success.

Trinity - loses Norte 3, Moorehead 7, Burnstein (Transfer) 13

Brandeis - loses Stone 50

We return all five scorers from the team that finished 20th at nationals, plus add a number of runners who should provide us with both a strong up front group and excellent depth. Paul Norton '11 returns after a sophomore year that saw him improve to 9th at regionals (and 39th at nationals). He continued that improvement on the track, running 8.32 indoor, 14.48 and 30.31. Chris Brown '12 and Marc Boutin '12 had stellar freshman campaigns, finishing 22nd and 23rd respectively at regionals. Both should be much improved over 8k after a year of experience. Kerwin Vega '11 was our #2/#3 runner for most of the season and finished 54th at regionals despite getting sick the week of the race. He was also our 4th scorer at nationals. Zack Schwartz '11 was our 5th scorer at nationals and continued his improvement indoors running a 3k pr of 8.49. Joining this group will be two runners, Devon Holgate '11 and Alex Kramer '13, who should step right in at the very front of our squad. Holgate showed his potential by running a 4.14 mile indoors (and 8.47 for 3k) after limited training. Incoming freshman Kramer ran a 9.17 2-mile while finishing 2nd at the MA State Champs. He was also the New England HS indoor mile champion and ran 15.18 for 5000m while finishing 7th at NIN. Others who should make an impact are Dan Anastos '11 (8.45 3k indoors), Ben Bray '11 (4.19 mile), Sam Donovan '11 (4.22 mile) and Alex Hulse '12 (26.13 8k as a freshman).

Bowdoin - loses MacFarlane 34

No preview provided but return from regional squad 8th  Thompson Ogilvie, 19th  Colman Hatton, 60th  Colin Ogilvie, 83rd  Stan Berkow, 87th Scott Longwell and 116th Sam Epstein. No word on newcomers or first years.

Middlebury - loses Wambach 40, Johnson 72

I graduate only 2 from last year's top seven at Regionals: #3 Rainey Johnson (40th) and #6 Jack Wambach (72nd). My top returning runner is soph. Michael Schmidt (27th) and Senior Peter Hoffman (38th) should make a major contribution. Depending on how they develop and adjust to the 8K distance I have seven incoming FY's who could break into the top seven. Time will tell.

Keene St - loses Davis 43, Garrity 65, McPherson (Transfer)

We return from 7th place regionals team, 30th- Brandon Schillemat, 35th Jared Samuel, 47th Eric Macknight, 121st Jeff Trethewey and return
Jr. Tim Pipp ( xc best 25:35)Jr. Corey Loonan 8:41 3k, 9:31 steeple, So. Kevin Hoyt (26:30 FR best) Sr.Jeff Goupil (xc 26:25) and a few freshmen. We have a lot of work to do!

MIT - loses Cohen 29, Ruzevick 49, Trevor Rundell 58

On the men's side we graduated #2 Jake Ruzevick, #3 Yermie Cohen and #6 Trevor Rundell. Time will tell if Hemu Arumugam, Gihan Amarasiriwardena, Jack Bourbonnais, Dan Harper, Paul Welle and Richard Prevost can step up and get the job done. Given the increase in racing distance it is not as likely that our freshmen will have an impact but a number of them have the potential. Brian Conn from Ann Arbor, MI, Adam Delton from Fresno, CA, Kyle Hannon from Park Ridge, IL, Dmitrij Petters from Bellevue, WA and David Way from Elmhurst, IL all could be among the top seven by the end of the season. The men should be favorites to win the NEWMAC Championship and have a reasonable chance to contend for one of the top five positions in the New England Region.

Southern Maine

The 09' Huskies graduated nobody and will return their top 7 from last years 9th place finish @ Regional's.  We were only 29 points from being a top 5 team.  This years squad will be lead by 3rd year runner Tyler Jasud; LEC/NE Alliance Runner of the Year, 11th @ Regional's & 43rd @ National's in 08'.  2nd year runner Alex Gomes; LEC/NE Alliance Rookie Runner of the Year, 16th @ Regional's & 97th @ National's in 08'.  3rd year runner & All-Conference Runner Justin Richardson along with 4th year runner & All-Conference Runner Nick Downing make this a very strong foursome.  2nd year runner Tim Even, 3rd year runner JJ Forcella & 4th year runner Jon Letendre make our top 7 from last year and provide great depth & experience.  A number of our second year runners gained great experience from last year and will provide extra depth along with our strong junior class.  A strong class of 11 freshmen will make this team even stronger; Fournier twins from Goffstown HS, NH.  Todd Kitchin From Fair Haven Union HS, VT.  Eamon Welter from Harwood Union HS, VT, Dylan Lajoie from Poland HS, ME.  Seth Neuts from Deering HS, ME.  Andrew Jordan from Greely HS, ME & Ben Peach from Nathan Hale-Ray HS, CT. will have the opportunity to make an impact and push our upperclassmen.  Some very nice transfers will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact; Noah Schoneberg from UMO - 15:30's outdoors, George Foster from Akron Univ. - 1:55 (800), & Nick Williams from UNH - former Class "B" ME State Champ in CC.  With the depth & experience the 09' team will bring, this will hopefully push us into the top 5 @ Regional's.

Conn College - loses Murtagh 6

Connecticut College lost #1 man and Cross Country National qualifier (6th at NESCAC, 6th at Regionals, 38th at NCAAs) and Track and Field All-American Brian Murtagh to graduation. However, the Camels, who placed one point out of 4th place at NESCACs last fall and 10th at the New England Regionals, return almost all of the rest of their top 7 from last year including junior Shawn Mulcahy (8th at NESCAC, 41st at Regionals), sophomore Doug Wright (26th at NESCAC, 76th at Regionals and 3rd in NESCAC 5000 Outdoors), junior Nate Lovitt (48th at Regionals), junior Andy Patton (93rd at Regionals), and junior Colin Gallant (153rd at Regionals). The teams' depth will be bolstered by the addition of 11 new harriers expected to join the team this fall, and the return of junior Dave Aigler who ran in CONN's top seven in 2007 but who did not compete last fall.

Tufts

With 12 of the top 14 athletes returning from a year ago, and all returning stronger than ever, the team cannot help but take a big step forward. Add to the mix an incredibly energetic, talented, and hardworking freshmen class and it is a recipe for some hard-earned spots on the TUXC championship squads. Leading the way for the Jumbos this year will be the trio of seniors Jesse Faller, Nick Welch, and Ryan Lena. Faller, a 4-time All American, finished as the runner up at last years regional championships and went on to earn his 2nd cross country All American honors with his 35th place at the National Championships. He ran on the 3rd place DMR team at the National Championships with his 4:08 anchor leg and improved his PR’s to 14:26 and 3:51 in the outdoor season. Welch, a 2x All NE XC runner, joined Faller at the NCAA Championships indoors in the 5,000m after running 14:39 last winter. He and Lena both focused on the 3,000m steeplechase in the spring running 9:37 and 9:36 respectively. Lena had a strong showing last fall after finishing 19th at the NESCAC Championships.
Also returning from last seasons top 7 are Jeff Ragazzini, Jerzy Eisenberg-Guyot, Chris Brunnquell, and Connor Rose. Ragazzini took his 1500m time down to 3:59 last spring and Connor Rose saw his 800m time improve to 1:55. Eisenberg-Guyot finished All NESCAC in the 10k for the 2nd straight year while Brunnquell PR’d in the 5k in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Gordon

Gordon men finished 19th last year, the highest in school history and an improvement from 34th two years ago.  We expect to be stronger this year and hope to crack the top 15 for the first time ever.  We also hope to compete for the Commonwealth Coast Conference title where we were a close 2nd last year.  We lost numbers 1, 2 and 7.  We return our numbers 3-6 including SR Ben McGrath (109th), SR Kirk Vanacore (121st),  JR Andrew Worth (152nd) and SO Marty Maloney (183rd but improved to 4:07 1500).  We also return SO Brian Holahan (29:16 8K XC but improved to 34:55/16:46 in track).  We bring in 8 new freshmen including Josh Porizky (Fitch CT, 16:22 5K XC/9:46 3200/4:21 1600/2:00 800), Max Kronberg (Weston CT, 17:12 5K XC/9:57 3200) and Adam Reinemann (Niskuyana NY, 18:00 5K XC).

Westfield State

Westfield State College Men's Team placed 20th last year at the regional championships. The team goal is placing in the top ten. Westfield State College lost valuable senior Phil Gingras to graduation, but return everyone else. Westfield will be depending on many incoming freshman like Anthony Frissora from Shrewsbury, John Dacey from Franklin to bolster the teams depth. Senior Captain John Connolly will led the harriers followed closely by Jon Joyce, Pat Regan, Dan Harnyasz and Greg Serry. Like all cross country teams throughout the country Westfield State camaraderie and team spirit will help push the team to their late season goals.
