Jeffs Fall 3-0 at Sacred Heart|
January 19, 2001
FAIRFIELD, CT - The Amherst College women's ice hockey team fell victim to a 16-save performance by sophomore goaltender Kim Derleth as the Jeffs suffered a 3-0 shutout at Sacred Heart University on Friday night.
Derleth posted her second shutout of the season and received all the scoring support she would need from sophomore forward Angela Yuhas, who notched a pair of insurance goals in the first and third periods after freshman forward Annie Katz knocked in the game-winner six minutes into the opening frame.
Sacred Heart (6-4-2) outshot the Jeffs 52-16, which meant a lot of action for Amherst sophomore goaltender Heidi Alexander (Edina, MN). She finished with 49 saves as the Jeffs fell to 3-9 with the loss.
Amherst returns to action Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Manhattanville College.
