HANOVER, NH - First-year golfer Kathryn Kuchefsky (Wellesley, MA) shot an 81-87-168 in her collegiate debut to lead Amherst College to an 11th place finish at the Dartmouth Women's Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Hanover (NH) Country Club.
Amherst finished with a 360-350-710 total on the strength of a 92-87-179 by sophomore Katie Gravel (Manchester, NH), a 94-86-180 by junior Jaime Ratner (Liberty, NY), a 93-90-183 by sophomore Jean Limpert (Bethesda, MD), and a 94-95-189 total by sophomore Kasarin Chakkaphak (New York, NY).
Eventual champion Princeton shot a tournament record 612 for an astounding 21-shot advantage over second place finishers Dartmouth, Idaho State and Yale. Fellow Division I powers Yale, Brown, Boston College, Bucknell and Boston University also competed in the 17-team field.
The Amherst women's golf team takes the course again on Saturday at Yale University.
