mcbrideBilly McBride enters his eighth season as head coach of the women's basketball team with a 90-74 career record and a string of competitive teams and accomplished student-athletes to his credit. The Syracuse, NY native came to Amherst in 1990 after a stint as athletic director and head basketball and football coach at the Allen Stevenson School in New York City. Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers after a standout two-sport playing career at Tennessee State University, McBride played six years in the Canadian Football League and was an All-City and All-Upstate New York football and basketball player as a prep all-star in Syracuse. He also led the Tennessee State basketball team to the NCAA Division II Final Four as a point guard in 1975. During the off-season, McBride tutors wide recievers for the defending NESCAC Champion Jeffs football team. osterhoutKathleen Osterhout enters her second year as Billy McBride's top assistant after helping lead the Jeffs to their first outright Little Three Championship in 11 years as a newcomer in 1999-00. Like McBride, Osterhout is a native of Syracuse, NY, where she was a four-year basketball all-star and an outstanding soccer goaltender at Bishop Ludden High School. Upon graduation, Osterhaut inked a scholarship to play basketball at Niagara University. Today, the Holyoke, MA resident is an avid runner, recently completing the New York City Marathon, and is the mother of an 11-year old daughter, Meghan.
