Softball, Baseball Standouts Earn ECAC Honors
June 4 - Amherst College baseball player Ryan Whitmarsh (Dalton, MA) and softball standout Lauren Peloquin (Berkley, MA) were named Second-Team Division III New England All-Stars by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, while fellow softball player Meg Nelson (Middletown, CT) was an honorable mention pick, as voted on by ECAC Division III New England region coaches. Peloquin, Nelson Lead List of NFCA All-Region Picks
May 18 - Junior pitcher Lauren Peloquin (Berkley, MA) and senior co-captain left fielder Meg Nelson (Middletown, CT) topped a list of four Amherst College softball players tabbed All-New England by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association this week. Peloquin, the NESCAC Player of the Year as a sophomore and Pitcher of the Year this spring, joins Nelson as a second-team pick, with fellow senior co-captain second baseman Carline Kelly (S. Dartmouth, MA) and NESCAC Rookie of the Year Gina Scribner (Star, ID) making the region's second team. Full Story

Softball Racks Up All-NESCAC Honors
May 11 - Junior Amherst College softball hurler Lauren Peloquin was named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday, joining three of her teammates, including Co-Rookie of the Year Gina Scribner, as an all-conference selection. Peloquin, the NESCAC Player of the Year as a sophomore, joins co-captain left fielder Meg Nelson on the league's fist team, with co-captain second baseman Carline Kelly making the NESCAC's second team. Jeffs Drop NESCAC Tournament Opener at Tufts, 4-1
May 4 - Junior pitcher Jodie Moreau went the distance for her tenth straight win and the Tufts University offense took advantage of four Amherst College errors, as the Jumbos posted a 4-1 victory over the Jeffs in the first round of the NESCAC Softball Championship Tournament on Friday. Amherst senior second baseman Carline Kelly scored the lone run for the Jeffs after leading off the game with a double. Full Story

Jeffs Drop 2-1 Pitcher's Duel to Springfield
May 2 - In what turned into a fantastic pitching duel between senior Springfield College hurler Nan Duga and Amherst junior Lauren Peloquin, Duga allowed only an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning, making the Pride's two unearned runs in the top of the first stand up in a 2-1 Springfield victory. Peloquin struck out six in the defeat, as the Jeffs fall to 19-10 on the season heading into Friday's NESCAC Tournament at Tufts University. Full Story

Pair of Stellar Pitching Performances Lead Ephs to Doubleheader Sweep of Jeffs
April 28 - Sophomore Williams College pitchers Katherine Baldwin (Yantic, CT) and Kaitlyn DeLuca (Milford, MA) combined to allow only 11 Amherst College hits and no earned runs in two games, as the Ephs swept a NESCAC softball doubleheader from the Jeffs, taking the opener by a 2-1 count before a 3-1 victory in the nightcap. Peloquin Leads Jeffs to Doubleheader Sweep Over Wesleyan
April 26 - Junior pitcher Lauren Peloquin tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout in the opener, and the Amherst College softball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the nightcap, as the Jeffs swept Wesleyan University in a NESCAC-West Division doubleheader on Thursday. Peloquin also picked up the victory in the nightcap in relief of Amherst starter Emily Melia, but Melia played the offensive hero, connecting for a game-winning sacrifice fly to score senior co-captain Meg Nelson, whose RBI triple three batters earlier had plated Missy Mordy to tie the game at five. Softball Solid in Sweep of Division Foe Middlebury
April 21 - Sophomore hurler Emily Melia scattered three hits over six scoreless innings in the nightcap, and junior Lauren Peloquin went the distance for her 12th win of the season in the opener, as the softball team picked up a crucial pair of division wins with a doubleheader sweep at Middlebury College on Saturday. Sophomore Jenna Obelsky finished 2-3 with a double and two runs scored in the second game, while Melia struck out a season-high six en route to her fifth victory of the year. Full Story

Jeffs Split Non-League Twinbill With Westfield St.
April 18 - The Amherst (15-7) softball team split a non-league doubleheader with visiting Westfield State College (9-13) on Wednesday, winning the first game 4-2 before dropping the nightcap 9-3. The Jeffs overcame a 2-1 deficit in the opener, as senior shortstop Shari Sakamoto drove in junior starting pitcher Lauren Peloquin and sophomore designated hitter Emily Melia with a game-winning two-run single in the fourth inning. Tufts Sweeps Doubleheader from Softball, 8-0 and 9-6
April 14 - The Tufts University softball team used a seven-run fourth inning in the opener and a six-run second inning in the nightcap, en route to a doubleheader sweep of host Amherst College on Saturday. Junior Jumbo pitcher Jodie Moreau allowed only one hit in a complete-game shutout in the opener, before pitching three hitless innings of relief in the second game to notch the save, as the Jumbos snapped the Jeffs' eight-game winning streak.
