Gooding Awarded NSCAA's Highest Honor
January 26 - Head men's soccer coach and athletic director Peter Gooding was presented the 2001 Honor Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America at the 54th annual NSCAA Convention last week at the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis. Full Story

Goodband Tabbed NSCAA/Adidas All-Region
December 13 - Amherst College junior back Ryan Goodband was named Adidas First-Team All-New England Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America earlier this week. Forty six institutions are represented on the All-Region team with coaches from 79 New England colleges and universities in Division I, II and III taking part in the process. Full Story

Jeffs Earn All-NESCAC Honors
November 9 - Amherst College first-year phenom Franklin Perry (Hartford, CT) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year, while juniors Ryan Goodband (Needham, MA) and David Michener (Eden Prairie, MN) were tabbed All-NESCAC for the second straight season. Jeffs ECAC Hopes Dashed by Keene State, 2-0
November 8 - They say revenge is sweet. For Keene State College, it's even sweeter in the postseason. After losing to Amherst College 1-0 during the regular season, Keene State rebounded with a 2-0 win at Amherst on Wednesday afternoon, eliminating the Jeffs in the first round of the ECAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. Jeffs Fall in NESCAC Semifinal
November 4 - Amherst ended its men's soccer season with a 2-0 loss at number-one ranked and undefeated Williams College on Saturday in the NEASCAC Tournament semifinals. Full Story

Goodband's Goal Lifts Jeffs Over Tufts in NESCAC First-Round
October 31 - Amherst junior Ryan Goodband headed a corner kick from teammate Piercarlo Valdesolo past goalkeeper Steve McDermid in the 87th minute to lift the visiting Jeffs to a 1-0 victory over Tufts University in the first-round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday. Men's Soccer Advances to NESCACs With 3-0 Win Over Trinity
October 28 - In a game that would determine the final entrant into the 2000 NESCAC Championship Tournament, Amherst College blanked visiting Trinity 3-0 in men's soccer, effectively extending its season and eliminating the Bantams from conference post-season consideration. Full Story

Men's Soccer Blanks Springfield 3-0
October 24 - Amherst College put three different players in the scoring column as the Jeffs dismantled visiting Springfield College 3-0 in a non-league men's soccer matchup on Tuesday. Full Story

Men's Soccer Falls in OT Thriller
October 21 - 2-1 overtime finals were the theme of the day at Wesleyan on Saturday, as the Cardinals' men's soccer team used goals in the 80th and 111th minutes to rally from a 1-0 deficit and defeat the Jeffs in a NESCAC thriller in Connecticut. Frank Perry '04 scored the lone goal for Amherst in the 25th minute, but it would not stand up in the Cardinal win. Full Story
