STORRS, CT and WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst men's 4x400 team sprinted to a school record and national qualifying time in the Open New England Championships at Storrs, Connecticut this weekend. Janak Chandrasoma (Pasadena, CA), Rob Long (Littleton, CO), Jared Moshe (Chappaqua, NY), and Brian Hart (Rutland, VT) combined for a time of 3:15.91 as they pulled in the top Division III performance. Their time broke the school record that had stood since 1969 when Bruce Wallace ('69), Robert Ihne ('69), James Reed ('71), and Jonathan Steinhart ('69) ran a time of 3:17.14.

In addition to their top 4x400 performance, seniors Rob Long and Jared Moshe sprinted to top performances individually in the 400 meter dash with times of 49.35 and 49.25, respectively, while first-year Janak Chandrasoma competed in the 200 meter dash with a 22.18 performance. In the 110 meter high hurdles, sophomore Pat Hayes (East Bridgewater, MA) finished with a time of 15.43. Fellow first-years John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO) and Michael Page (Fargo, ND) were also strong as they competed in the 1500 meter run (4:08.73) and steeple chase (9:53.28). The Jeff's sprinters kept going in the 4x100 relay event, as Hart, Moshe, Chandrasoma, and Greg Baker (Tinton Falls, NJ) finished with a time of 42.77.

Up at Williamstown the women ran strongly in both individual and relay events. Laurel Kilgour (Clifton, NY) ran a time of 2:20.51 for a top individual performance in the 800 meter run. Rebecca Woo (Manchester, NH) also competed strongly in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:56.60. Amie Shei (Lexington, MA) and Kate Hamill (New York, NY) sprinted to 60.33 and 68.98 performances in the 400 meter dash and 400 high hurdles, respectively. Ali Dimon (Rye, NY) rounded out the individual performances with a 19:02.69 finish in the 5000 meter run. The 4x800 relay team of Rebecca Woo, Laurel Kilgour, Alyson Venti (Newton, MA), and Annie Perez (Chappaqua, NY) ran a time of 9:42.16.

Both the men and women have one more chance to qualify for nationals in this weekends "last chance meet" before they travel to the NCAA's at Milliken University on Thursday, May 24.
