MIDDLETOWN, CT - Behind solid performances from newcomers and veteran runners alike, the Amherst College men's and women's outdoor track teams pulled in seventh and ninth places, respectively, at the NESCAC Track & Field Championships hosted by Wesleyan University. While Williams College went on to win both the men's and women's overall point competition, the Jeffs earned significant individual honors in what proved to be an exceptional outing for both teams.

The Amherst men were led by an impressive performance in the 400 meters as three runners finished in the top ten. Senior Jared Moshe placed second with a time of 49.43, followed by fellow senior Robert Long (49.86) in fifth and Sophomore Brian Hart in ninth (50.77). In the 110-Meter High Hurdles, junior Pat Hayes continued to perform exceptionally well by posting a season-best time of 15.09. Ben Kozyak rounded out the squad's individual honors with a fifth place finish in the 800. In relay competition, the Amherst men excelled with a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay and fourth in the 4x100. The Jeffs also placed well in the distance medley with a fifth place finish of 10:42.79.

For the women, first-year Laurel Kilgour kicked off a successful performance for the Jeffs with a 2:20.06 finish in the 800, good for fourth place. Also strong in the 800 were eighth place finisher Anne Perez (2:22.43) and Kate Hamill (2:22.48) in ninth. Alison Dimon and Erinn White continued the team's success by placing fifth and ninth, respectively in the 5,000. In the relay events, the 4x800 team finished just behind Middlebury College, with an impressive 9:30.34 time to grab second place. Also running well, the 4x400 team took home a sixth place finish (4:12.24).

Both the men's and women's squads will travel to Connecticut College this weekend for the Division III New England Championships.
