Amherst Men's Lacrosse 2001 Milestones
Team Accomplishments:
1) Placed eighth in the NESCAC with a 5-8 overall record (2-7 NESCAC) and secured a berth in the inaugural NESCAC Postseason Tournament (fell to Wesleyan in the first round).
2) Posted a 5-1 record to start the year, including an 8-5 win at Bates College in the Jeffs' NESCAC opener.
Individual Accomplishments:
1) Senior Goalkeeper Corey Simonson (Morristown, NJ/Pingry School)
*Finished fifth among NESCAC goalkeepers with a 9.67 goals against average and held four opponents to six goals or less during the regular season.
*Tabbed First Team All-NESCAC, Second Team ECAC New England All-Star and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American.
*In perhaps his finest game of the year, Simonson posted 10 saves and allowed just three goals in a 9-3 win at non-league rival Wheaton College on March 29. He then posted a whopping 15 saves with just five goals allowed in the Jeffs' conference-opener at Bates and another 11 saves in a 16-8 win at Western New England on April 5
2) Senior Attack Eric Edelson (Bethesda, MD/Sidwell Friends School)
*Named NESCAC Spring All-Academic.
