Indoor Track Teams Excel at New Englands|

MEDFORD, MA - The Amherst men's and women's indoor track teams each saw action at the New England Open at Tufts and Boston University on Friday and Saturday.

The women had a spectacular two-day performance at the new Tufts University track, with nearly every team member posting season a season or career-best time. Sophomore Martha Nelson broke the school-record in the mile and qualified provisionally for NCAA National Meet in the process. Kate Hamill also ran a personal best time of 2:20.59 in the 800-prelims. Fellow sophomore Laurel Kilgour also shattered a school-record, running an outstanding 800 in the prelims on Friday afternoon and coming back to place fourth in the competition the next day. Meanwhile, senior Katie Famous posted a personal-best time of 18:27.26 in the women's 5,000. The Jeffs finished 13th overall and third among the Division III participants - edging conference and regional rival Williams College by one point!
The following Amherst women garnered All-New England honors for their performances:
*Molly Burnett: 3000 -- 10:18.14 (personal record) -- 6th place
*Laurel Kilgour: 800 -- 2:17.36 (season best) -- 4th place
*Martha Nelson: Mile -- 5:02.68 (personal record) -- 7th place
*Becca Woo: 1000 -- 3:03.62 (personal record) -- 7th place

Kate Hamill, Nelson: 12.23:18 (season best) -- 5th place
*4 x 800: Perez, Nelson, Kilgour, Hamill -- 9:35.79 (season best) -- 7th
The Amherst men raced at Boston University and also posted personal and season-bests in a bevy of individual and relay events. Sophomore Pat Hayes broke the eight-second barrier in the 55-meter high hurdles, finishing at 7.97. John Stanton-Geddes raced a strong mile (4:22.87) and later joined senior Jared Moshe, junior Ben Kozyak and first-year phenom Mike Page in the distance medley relay with a season-best time of 10:38.34. The 4 x 400 relay team of sophomore Brian Hart, senior Robert Long, first-year Janak Chandrasoma and Moshe also lowered their season best with a time of 3:22.10, with every leg of the relay clocking in at under 51 seconds.
