SALEM, MA - The Amherst College men's ice hockey team scored three second period goals en route to a 3-2 ECAC victory over Salem State College Friday night at the Richard H. Rockett Ice Arena.

Eighth ranked Salem State took a 1-0 lead 1:52 into the first period, courtesy of sophomore forward Adam Hackett's team-leading 10th goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Scott Cooper and junior Jay McCabe.

The 10th ranked Jeffs came storming back with a game-tying power-play goal by senior defenseman Jim Smith (Rochester, MN) early in the second period, before junior forward David Paris put the Vikings back on top 2-1 with his first tally of the season at 3:12.

From there it was all Amherst, as junior forward Darren Reaume (West Seneca, NY) and senior forward Rob Hill (Averil Park, NY) each connected before the second intermission to set the final score at 3-2.

Senior goaltender Nick Rieser (Northfield, IL) stopped 21 shot for the Jeffs, while Kaleb Christenson made 29 saves for Salem State.

The Jeffs (11-3-3/7-2-3 ECAC) return to action tomorrow afternoon at Southern Maine at 4:00.
