BREWSTER, MA - Sophomore Michael Blaisdel (South Strafford, VT) fired an 80-79-159 to lead the Amherst College men's golf team to a 25th place finish at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships at the Captain's Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
Amherst finished in a three-way tie with the University of Vermont and NESCAC rival Middlebury College after finishing 89 over par. The University of Rhode Island won the team championship at +11.
Blaisdel paced five Amherst finishers, including sophomore Jude Volek (New York, NY) who finished 76th with an 80-84-164 tally, and fellow sophomore and NESCAC Tournament runner-up Todd Ballaban (Thousand Oaks, CA), who shot an 83-82-165 and finished 85th. Meanwhile, senior Mark Still (Devon, PA) and junior John Frechette (Weston, MA) finished 180th and 221st, respectively, with scores of 96-81-177 and 98-96-194.
