Jeffs Swing Into Action at Duke Nelson

MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Amherst College men's golf team finished ninth at the season-opening Duke Nelson Tournament at Middlebury College on Friday and Saturday, just forty strokes back of eventual winner Skidmore College.

The Jeffs placed three players in the top-thirty among a 114-player, 23-team field, including sophomore Jude Volek (New York, NY) who finished tied for 17th with a two-round score of 159. Classmate Todd Ballaban (Thousand Oaks, CA) was right behind Volek, tied for 25th after shooting a 161, while junior Mike Blaisdel (South Strafford, VT) finished tied for 30th with a score of 162.

Elsewhere in the pack, sophomore Steve Collins (Beverly Hills, MI) finished tied for 60th with a 167 total and Mark Still (Devon, PA) placed 69th with a 170.

The Amherst men's golf team returns to action on Wednesday at Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY.
