Men's Basketball Coaching Staff
Hixon1Head Coach David Hixon enters his 24th season at Amherst as the Jeffs' all-time winningest coach with a 371-191 career record. After captaining the the men's basketball team as a senior in 1974-75, Hixon was awarded the Hitchcock Fellowship and began as an assistant coach, working with the football, basketball and track teams, while earning an M.S. in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts. Hixon2Hixon has also worked as an assistant coach with the women's soccer team and currently serves as Amherst's assistant athletic director. He and his wife, Amherst diving coach Mandy Hixon, have two sons, Matthew, 8, and Michael, 5.

ronAssistant Coach Ron Buelow enters his 16th season as an Amherst assistant and Coach Hixon's "Right-Hand Man". In addition to his college coaching duties, Coach B (as he is affectionately referred to) has coached baseball and taught at Ware High School since graduating from Plymouth State, where he captained the baseball team as a senior in 1967. Buelow resides in Ware with his wife Jean and two children, Billy and Jennifer.

reyAssistant Coach Rey Harp, Jr. enters his fifth season as an Amherst assistant after starting out as a team manager and statistician in 1993-94 and moving to the Jeffs' bench in 1996-97. Harp is an Amherst graduate with a degree in sociology and teaches in the Northampton School System.
