Amherst Grabs Fourth at Wellesley Invitational

October 16, 2006

WELLESLEY, MA – Coming off a successful weekend at a NESCAC Tournament, the Jeffs rolled into Wellesley to take on some of the toughest competition in the northeast at the Wellesley Invite.

The team finished with an impressive two-day total of 353-344-697, which was their lowest total of the season by nearly ten strokes. The Jeffs were again led by senior captain Sarah Harper (Rochester, MN) but she was also joined by rookie phenom Kinne Schwartz (Allen, TX). Both golfers tied for second individually and fired rounds of 81-81-162 and 86-76-162, respectively. Schwartz’s 76 was her lowest total of the year, proving to herself and others that she has the ability to play with the best in the northeast.

First-year Jordan Chafetz (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) and junior Kristin Beneski (Colleyville, TX) recorded solid scores as well, firing totals of 89-96-185 and 97-91-188 to place 21st and 25th, respectively. Rookie Alex Chang-Graham (San Carlos, CA) rounded out the scoring for the Jeffs, posting a 107-99-206 and placing 31st in the field.

The fall slate comes to a close for the Jeffs, who progressed significantly over the course of the season. As they prepare for spring, the squad will certainly look to challenge the field yet again with more experience under their belts, paired with the leadership of their veterans.
