Jeffs Finishes Third at Mass State Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, MA - The Amherst College women's golf team finished third at the one day Massachusetts State Invitational Tournament this aftermoon, shooting a 355 as a team. Senior captain Sarah Harper (Rochester, MN) shot a team leading 82, to finish in fifth place individually.

Harper finished just three strokes behind Boston College's Sara Gogoak, the eventual champion. B.C. ran away with the win, shooting a 322 as a team. Crosstown rival, Boston University, edged Amherst for second place with a 352, an eyepopping 30 strokes behind B.C., but just three swings ahead of the Lord Jeffs.

Amherst first-year Kinne Schwartz (Aleen, TX) finished in a three-way tie for tenth place, shooting an 89. One-shot behind, in a tie for 13th place, classmate Jordan Chafetz (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) shot a 90.

Junior Ali Berman (Boca Raton, FL) and sophomore Amanda Otieno (Gloucester, MA) rounded out the scoring for Amherst, shooting 94 and 110, respectively.

Amherst returns to action tomorrow morning, when it hosts the Jack Lehman Invitational. The lone home tournament of the season for the Jeffs is a two day event at Hickory Ridge Golf Club, and The Orchards.
