Jeffs Place Fourth at Vassar Invitational April 14, 2007 The Ephs finished with a team total of 346, two strokes better than host Vassar. Middlebury College finished in third (367), followed by the Lord Jeffs (381) and Mount Holyoke (387). The tournament was originally schedule for two days, but due to predicted inclement weather, became a single day event. The Spackenkill Golf Course is a par 72, 5,804 yards. The top four golfers from each team figure into overall scoring. Amherst, in fourth place as a team was led by senior captain Sarah Harper’s (Rochester, NY) 83, which was good enough to tie for a second place individual finish. Rounding out Amherst’s scoring were junior Ali Berman (Boca Raton, FL; 88), first-year Jordan Chafetz (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; 93) and sophomore newcomer Amanda Otieno (Gloucester, MA; 117) Williams, the eventual champions, was led by Anne O’Leary, who had the afternoon’s best round at 80, followed by Melissa Barton (83), Laura Koplik (90), Kristin Nottebohn (93) and Allison Khederian (116). Second place Vassar was led by Kaleigh Horn with an 86, Katie Bertel (83), Danielle Gibbons (89), Caroline Miller (94) and Marcy Levitan (90). Third place Middlebury was led by Karen Levin (90), Heather Gallagher (91), Allison Ortega (92), Kerry Ortega (94) and Julie Ellenberger (95). Rounding out the field was Mount Holyoke, which received a 90 from Erin Weimer, 94 from Katie Banaszak, Vanessa Fong (106) and Tiffany Shute (110). Amherst returns to action on Friday, April 20 at the Massachusetts States, hosted by Mt. Holyoke. Top-15 Individual Scoring |
