She was a four-year starting point guard at Plymouth State, earning team Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman and the college's Female Athlete of the Year award as a senior captain. Upon graduating in 2000 with a degree in sports medicine, the Dexter, Maine native oversaw championships, marketing and broadcast services for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
