Jeffs Drop Road Game at Keene State, 70-60
AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women’s basketball team dropped their third game of the season this evening at non-conference opponent, Keene State College. Despite the Lord Jeff’s second highest scoring output of the season, they were unable to topple the owls on the road, falling 70-60.
Amherst drops to 1-3 on the young season with the loss, but there were many bright points to be taken from the game, as junior tri-captain Shaina Pollack (Great Neck, NY) played very well, scoring 13 points.
Leading the Jeffs on the offensive end of the floor were junior tri-captain Stephanie Reiff (Hinsdale, IL) and sophomore Kerry O’Laughlin (Stow, MA) who each dropped in 15 points on the night. O’Laughlin was a monster on the boards, corralling 10 rebounds, to register an impressive double-double.
Sophomore guard Michele Boudreau (Readsboro, VT) scored 18 points for the Owls in the win, up a dozen from her 5.8 average last season, while three other Keene State players scored in double digits.
The Owls from Keene State remain unbeaten with the win, moving to 3-0. Amherst has a few days off before they travel up the road to host Springfield College this weekend for the Pioneer Valley Classic. They are slated to face Springfield Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Western New England Saturday at 1:00 p.m.BOX SCORE
