AMHERST, MA – Amherst College first-year centerfielder Jackie Tyler (Ridgewood, NJ) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Softball Player of the Week for guiding the Lord Jeffs to a three-game sweep of Hamilton College to open up NESCAC play. Tyler went 7-for-11 (.636) in the leadoff spot over the weekend, scoring four runs while driving in two, picking up four singles, a double and two triples for a 1.091 slugging percentage.

On Friday afternoon, Tyler led off with a triple and scored the Jeffs’ first run by stealing home, then stole home again in the third after reaching base on a bunt single. The next inning, Tyler singled to lead off and stole second for her third steal of the game.

In Saturday’s first game, Tyler went 2-for-4 and sparked a seventh-inning rally by doubling to lead off before scoring as the tying run in a 7-6 win. Tyler followed up her late-inning heroics by driving in the go-ahead run in Saturday’s nightcap. Down one run with two outs in the second inning, she belted a two-RBI triple, giving the Jeffs a lead they would not surrender.

Through the first 12 games of the season, Tyler is batting .667 with a 1.033 slugging percentage. The Lord Jeffs return to action Tuesday, April 3, to host non-conference foe Clark University in a doubleheader.
