Cherney Named to USILA All-America Second TeamMay 29, 2007 AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior tri-captain Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY) added to his impressive list of postseason accolades, as he was selected to the 2007 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III All-America Second Team. Cherney is no stranger to receiving All-America honors, as he earned Honorable Mention in 2004 after being named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and again in 2005 after being named the NESCAC Co-Player of the Year. Cherney grabbed NESCAC Player of the Year honors this year, and was named to the conference’s First Team for the fourth consecutive season. Members of the 2007 All-America teams were invited to a banquet in Baltimore, MD this past Sunday, while Cherney was also selected to play in the Division III North/South Classic Senior All-Star Game May 25, also in Baltimore.
