From a Trinity College Release
April 4, 2007
HARTFORD, CT – The Amherst College men’s lacrosse team dropped a road game this evening at Trinity College for the team’s first loss in NESCAC conference play. The Bantams downed Amherst 10-7 to drop the Jeffs to 4-4 (2-1 NESCAC) on the year.
Amherst featured a well balanced attack against the Bantams, with six different players factoring into the scoring equation. Leading the way offensively for the Jeffs was senior tri-captain Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY) with a goal and an assist, and junior T.J. Jackson (Worcester, PA) with a pair of scores.
Also grabbing a goal apiece for Amherst on the day were first-year attackers J.T. Milone and Thomas McDonnell, both of Manhasset, NY, junior Will Ferrer (Greenwich, CT) and sophomore Tim Thornton (Garden City, NY)
Amherst scored the only two goals of the second quarter to draw even at three heading into halftime, but Trinity jumped out of the locker room in the second half, taking a 7-4 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Amherst was unable to slow down the Bantam duo of Kris Tedeschi and Adam Cox, who together tallied six goals and four assists. Sophomore Matt Pietroforte (Brooklyn, NY) paired with Andrew Harrison (Hanover, MA) to make a dozen saves.
Amherst returns to the field this Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. when they travel for a match-up with Middlebury.
