Jeffs Wrap up Fall Slate at NEIGA Championship October 24, 2006 Brewster, MA – The Amherst College men’s golf team took part in the 72nd annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Championship, an event featuring 43 New England schools and 215 golfers. Play began on Sunday and finished Tuesday. Five members of the Amherst College team took part over the weekend, with senior Andy Bruns (Eaton, OH) leading the team, finishing 82nd among golfers from Divisions I, II, and III. Sophomores Will Collins (Edina, MN), Glenn Wong (Leverett, MA) and Chris Valentine (Topsfield, MA), along with senior Sean Jules (Chicago, IL), joined Bruns to finish 27th overall as a team. Although the rankings do not show it, Amherst fared well considering the competition they were playing with, as the Jeffs’ team score was better than many Division I and Division II schools. The University of Rhode Island took home both the individual and team championships, with Ben Spitz out-shooting the rest of the field over the weekend. Trinity College led all Division III schools, finishing in sixth place overall, while Bryant University led Division II schools, finishing in 12th place overall. AMHERST INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
