Amherst Places 3rd at Williams Quad ChallengeFrom a Williams College Release May 5, 2007 WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Amherst College men’s golf team placed third at the Williams College Quad Challenge held this weekend. The Lord Jeffs (21.5 points) finished behind first-place Salem State College (57 points) and second-place Williams (47 points), but ahead of fourth-place Middlebury College (18.5 points). The format of play was a medal play Nassau, with eight players representing each of the four schools. In each of the eight groups of players, a total of three points were up for grabs per nine holes. A player received one point for each competitor he out-shot in a nine-hole span, and half of a point for each competitor he tied during that span. Matt Baran and Nick Antonelli led Salem State by collecting all six possible points. Kevin Kellert, Brendan Conley and Alex Mallory each tallied five points for Williams. Amherst's top point-producer was first-year Adam Shniderman (Fort Lauderdale, FL) with five, while Jesse Keenan led Middlebury with four.
