Amherst Men's Basketball Assistants

Ron Buelow enters his 23rd season as head coach Dave Hixon's top assistant with a wealth of experience in collegiate and high school athletics under his belt. In addition to his duties at Amherst, Buelow served 15 seasons as the head baseball coach and 18 seasons as the head boys' basketball coach at nearby Ware High School, where he  recently retired from his work as a physical education teacher after 38 years. He is also the former director of the prestigious Dave Cowens Basketball School, and captained the baseball team at Plymouth State College before graduating in 1967. Buelow resides in Ware with his wife Jean. They have two grown children, Bill and Jennifer, and four grandchildren. 

A 2005 graduate of Colby College, Jamie Snyder-Fair enters his third season as an assistant coach at Amherst. A four-year letter winner for the Mules, Snyder-Fair will help tutor the Amherst post players. A native of Leverett, MA, Snyder-Fair played his high school ball locally at Mohawk Trail Regional High School. In addition to helping the Jeffs, Snyder-Fair works with disadvantaged youth at the Springdale Education Center in Holyoke, MA.

Mark Gilbride joins the Amherst Basketball staff this year after three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Bowdoin College. Mark is the recruiting coordinator for the Lord Jeff program and will look to continue a tradition of excellence by finding top student-athletes from around the country. His other responsibilities include working individually with players, scouting opponents, practice and game preparation, and managing basketball operations.

Prior to coaching Mark was a captain and starting point guard at Bowdoin where he led the team in assists three seasons in a row. In 2002 he earned a degree in economics.

Mark was also a 1,000 point scorer and McDonald’s All-State Selection at Mount Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine.
