Wheeler Heads into Friday Night's Game with Confidence

March 16, 2007

Dan Wheeler on the team's pre-game thoughts heading into Friday night's game against Wooster:

“Although the banquet was great last night, it was really nice to wake up today and just be able to focus on the task at hand, and get back to our normal routine. We went over to the Civic Center this morning and had a typical shoot-around for our squad. Some people were playing H-O-R-S-E, while others were just making sure they got adjusted to the gym.

Playing in an arena like this, there is a different shooting background than we are used to, and while some of us have a little experience in this gym, since we have been here before, it’s important for all of us to get comfortable. That way, when the game starts, we can jump out to the normal style of play we are used to.

After getting back to the hotel, we have a pre-game meal at 2:30, but as soon as that finishes, everyone will really settle into their pre-game routine, whether that be listening to music or something else.

I feel a lot more confident going into tonight because we have been here twice before. We can treat tonight like any other game in LeFrak, and hit the floor and take care of business.”
