Eleventh-Ranked Men's Squash Tops Bowdoin, 6-3, 11th-Ranked Women Fall to No. 12 Polar Bears, 7-2

BRUNSWICK, ME - The eleventh-ranked Amherst College men's squash team topped 14th-ranked host Bowdoin College on Wednesday, 6-3, while the No. 11 Amherst women fell to the 12th-ranked host Polar Bears, 7-2. The Amherst men improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Jeff women's squad dropped to 3-3.

First-year standout Drew Blacker (Summit, NJ) posted his second consecutive shutout, blanking Bowdoin's Bruce Saltzman, 9-0, 9-5, 9-2, while classmates Gautam Kalani (Mumbai, India) and Jerome Giovinazzo (Staten Island, NY), and junior Stu Landesberg (Katonah, NY) each won by matching 3-0 scores.

On the women's side, juniors Emily O'Brien (New Canaan, CT) and Abby Mantica (Sewickley, PA) posted the lone wins for the Jeffs. O'Brien toppled Bowdoin's Katherine Gormley in No. 3 play, 9-2, 7-9, 9-0, 9-4, while Mantica downed Susie Martin, 9-7, 9-5, 9-7.

Both squads return to action on Saturday as the women host the Amherst Invitational, while the men face the sixth-ranked University of Pennsylvania.
