Wilcox, Cherney Nab ECAC Division III New England Men's Lacrosse All-Star Plaudits, Briody Grabs Women's Honors
June 16 - Amherst senior Andrew Wilcox and junior Derek Cherney were named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Men's Lacrosse All-Star team on Friday, while junior Alyssa Briody bolstered her postseason resume as well, adding women's lacrosse all-star honors. Jeffs Continue to Add National Honors, Noonan Named Womenslacrosse.com National Rookie of the Year
June 7 - The Amherst women's lacrosse team continued to add national awards to its resume this week as juniors Alyssa Briody and Emery Sweeney and rookie Mary Noonan each picked up All-America honors from Womenslacrosse.com and Inside Lacrosse. Noonan bolstered her list of awards, taking home Womenslacrosse.com National Rookie of the Year plaudits and was joined on the All-Rookie Team by classmate Amy Craig. Full Story

Briody, Sweeney, Noonan Earn IWLCA/US Lacrosse Second-Team All-America
June 1 - Amherst women’s lacrosse juniors Alyssa Briody and Emery Sweeney and rookie Mary Noonan each earned Second-Team All-America honors this week, as recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and U.S. Lacrosse, and will be honored at a banquet in Baltimore, Md. on June 10. Women's Lacrosse Earns Six Spots On IWLCA All-Regional Team

May 25 - Six members of the Amherst College women’s lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Berkshire Region team on Tuesday. Senior tri-captain Laura Brown, juniors Alyssa Briody and Emery Sweeney and rookie Mary Noonan all earned first-team honors, while junior Rachel Lewis and first-year Amy Craig came away with second-team plaudits. Jeffs' NCAA Tournament Run Halted at Gettysburg, 8-4
May 13 - The Amherst women's lacrosse team's NCAA Division III Tournament run was halted on Saturday at top-ranked quarterfinal host Gettysburg College as the Bullets topped the Jeffs, 8-4. Amherst wraps up its season at 14-4, while Gettysburg (20-0) advances to the national semifinals to be hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. on May 20. Full Story

Briody Leads Jeffs to 14-9 NCAA Second-Round Victory Over Rowan
May 12 - Junior Alyssa Briody matched a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists to lead the Amherst women's lacrosse team to a 14-9 NCAA Division III Tournament Second-Round victory over Rowan University at Gettysburg College on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Jeffs advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals where they'll face host Gettysburg, who advanced with a 15-6 win over Messiah, tomorrow (Saturday) at 4 p.m. Full Story

May 11 - The Amherst women’s lacrosse team earned a trio of slots on the 2006 New England Small College Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team, announced on Wednesday afternoon, as junior attacker Alyssa Briody earned first-team plaudits, while senior defender Laura Brown and rookie midfielder Mary Noonan grabbed second-team honors. May 10 - The Amherst women’s lacrosse team (13-3) marched past visiting Western New England College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday, 19-3. The Jeffs advance to face Rowan University on Friday at 4 p.m. at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. Full Story

Sixth-Ranked and Second-Seeded Women's Lacrosse Earns Sixth-Straight Trip to NESCAC Semis

May 4 - The sixth-ranked and second-seeded Amherst College women’s lacrosse team (12-2) will face seventh-ranked and fourth-seeded Bowdoin College in the NESCAC Championship Semifinals at top-seeded Middlebury College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The squad earned its sixth consecutive trip to the semifinals with a 17-8 quarterfinal victory over seventh-seeded Wesleyan University on Sunday. April 26 - The sixth-ranked Amherst women's lacrosse team toppled visiting 11th-ranked NESCAC rival Tufts University on Wednesday. Rookie Amy Craig tallied half the Jeffs' scores as they improved to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Full Story

April 24 - Amherst junior Alyssa Briody was named the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday after guiding the Lord Jeffs to a trio of wins last week. Full Story

Eighth-Ranked Jeffs Win Seventh Straight, Slide by Bates, 9-8
April 23 - The eighth-ranked Amherst women’s lacrosse team earned its seventh straight victory on Sunday afternoon, slipping past NESCAC host Bates College, 9-8. Amherst sophomore Maddie Hoeg notched a free-position score with 2:37 left in regulation for the game-winner as the Jeffs improved to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Full Story

Eighth-Ranked Jeffs Steal 12-11 Overtime Thriller at Colby
April 22 - Junior attacker Alyssa Briody slipped home a score with just 3.9 seconds remaining in overtime to give the eighth-ranked Amherst women’s lacrosse team a 12-11 victory at seventh-ranked NESCAC rival Colby College on Saturday afternoon. Briody finished with four goals and an assists at the Jeffs improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while Colby saw a school-record 11-game win streak fall by the wayside and dropped to 11-2 (6-2 NESCAC). April 15 - The Amherst women's lacrosse team secured the Little Three Championship outright with a convincing 12-6 win over archrival Williams College on Saturday afternoon. Full Story

April 13 - Junior attacker Alyssa Briody posted four goals and an assist to lead Amherst women's lacrosse over visiting NESCAC rival Connecticut College, 19-8, on Thursday afternoon. Full Story

Seventh-Ranked Jeffs Double Up Wesleyan, 6-3
April 8 - The Amherst women’s lacrosse team dominated NESCAC host Wesleyan University in the second half outscoring them four to one on their way to a 6-3 victory over the Cardinals. With the win, Amherst improves to 5-1 and 2-1 in conference play, while Wesleyan drops to 7-3 overall (2-2 NESCAC). Full Story

April 5 - Sophomore goalkeeper Linda McEvoy posted eight of her nine saves in the second half to lead Amherst to an 8-5 NESCAC women's lacrosse victory at Trinity College on Wednesday. Full Story

April 1 - The seventh-ranked Amherst women's lacrosse team suffered a narrow 10-9 NESCAC loss at sixth-ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon, falling to 3-1 (0-1 NESCAC) on the year. Full Story

Seventh-Ranked Women's Lax Smokes Springfield, 12-4
March 30 - The seventh-ranked Amherst women's lacrosse team cruised past visiting non-conference rival Springfield College on Thursday, 12-4. The Jeffs remain undefeated at 3-0 with the home-opening victory. Full Story

Eighth-Ranked Women's Lacrosse Hammers Eastern Conn., 18-6
March 24 - The eighth-ranked Amherst women's lacrosse team hammered non-conference foe Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday in Wellington, Fla., 18-6. Juniors Alyssa Briody and Lauren Dudley and rookie Mary Noonan scored three goals apiece as the Jeffs improved to 2-0. Full Story

No. 5 Jeffs Post 11-7 Season-Opening Win Over 17th-Ranked Union
March 19 - The fifth-ranked Amherst women’s lacrosse team opened their 2006 slate with a decisive 11-7 victory over  non-conference rival No. 17 Union College in Wellington, Fla. on Sunday night.  Amherst held Union scoreless for the last 22 minutes of play and scored five straight goals to rally from a 7-6 deficit and steal the win.  Junior Alyssa Briody netted a game-high four goals and dished out an assist, while rookie Mary Noonan posted a hat trick in her first collegiate performance. Sixth-Ranked Women's Lacrosse Relies On Veteran Squad In Pursuit Of 2006 NESCAC Crown

February 23 - Success and national recognition are no strangers to Amherst women's lacrosse, and the squad looks to continue the program's strong tradition of excellence in 2006, returning nine starters from last year's lineup, and a core of four highly talented seniors in Laura Brown, Margaret Chute, Scotty Hanley and Caitie Parker.
