Jeffs Dropped by Elmira, 8-2

AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women’s hockey team was beaten 8-2 on Saturday afternoon by visiting ninth-ranked non-conference opponent Elmira College, dropping to 8-10 on the season while the Soaring Eagles improved to 12-7 overall.

Elmira senior forward Jaclyn O’Neil (Oshawa, ON) had two goals and two assists while sophomore forward Tory MacNeil (Massey, ON) scored and added a helper with rookie forward Kayla Coady (Charlottetown, PEI) pumping home two of her own to lead Elmira College to a convincing victory. Sophomore forward Farren Hart (Oerth, ON) had a goal and an assist, junior forward Stephanie McLean (Carelton Place, ON) and rookie forward Catherine Shears (Cornerbrook, NL) each added a goal of their own.

Amherst rookie forward Lindsay Harrington (Westford, MA) scored in the first period off dishes from senior forward Leah Kaplan (Buffalo, NY) and junior forward Elizabeth Ditmore (Excelsior, MN) and junior forward Meg Dickoff (Minnetonka, MN) scored from sophomore forward Kristin Forsberg (Kenilworth, IL) late in the third frame for Amherst.

Amherst sophomore netminder Stacey Johnston (Kingston, ON) made 25 stops while Elmira rookie goaltender Allison Cubberley (Bracebridge, ON) had 26 saves.

Amherst will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon, Sunday February 4th, when they visit second-ranked SUNY Plattsburgh.
