Amherst's Warner Earns NESCAC Softball First-Team Honors

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior softball pitcher Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) added to her list of postseason awards on Thursday afternoon, earning First-Team All-NESCAC honors for the third time in her career.

Warner was 24th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (8.7), while leading the NESCAC in strikeouts (156), tying for the conference lead in wins (14) and finishing fifth in ERA (1.86) and opposing batting average (.200). She posted seven double-digit strikeout performances during the season, six of which came during a streak of 11 straight victories on the hill. Named NESCAC Player of the Week for April 10, Warner also added her second career no-hitter, blanking NESCAC West Division host Hamilton College, 5-0, on April 27.

Warner graduates with fantastic career totals of 47 wins, 71 starts, 61 complete games, 18 shutouts, two no-hitters, 507.1 innings pitched and 603 strikeouts, while holding opposing batters to a .188 average.

The Amherst softball team finished with an 18-12 mark this year, qualifying for the NESCAC Tournament for the first time since 2002.
