May 17 - After being tabbed First Team All-NESCAC for the third time in her career and adding her second straight ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First-Team nod last week, Amherst College senior softball hurler Miya Warner added New England Softball Coaches Association Honorable Mention plaudits to her growing arsenal of postseason awards on Tuesday. May 6 - The Amherst softball team wrapped up its season with a narrow 4-3 NESCAC Tournament loss to Trinity College at Williams College on Saturday. Jeffs Edged in NESCAC Tournament First Round by Tufts, 4-3
May 5 - The Amherst softball team suffered a narrow 4-3 loss to the No. 1 seed from the NESCAC East Division, Tufts University, in the opening round of the 2006 NESCAC Tournament, hosted by Williams College on Friday. The Jeffs fall to 18-11 and will face Trinity College, which dropped a 6-4 decision to the host Ephs in the day’s first game, tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. Full Story

Jeffs Return to NESCAC Tournament
May 3 - With an 18-10 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play, the Amherst softball team returns to the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2002. The Jeffs earned the No. 2 seed in the Western division and will square off with the No. 1 seed from the Eastern side, Tufts University (24-12, 7-1 NESCAC East), on Friday at 5 p.m. at tournament host Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. April 25 - The Amherst softball team rolled past non-conference host Western New England College on Tuesday evening, 6-3. Sophomore Ralina Shaw went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI as the Jeffs improved to 16-8 on the year. Full Story

April 15 - Rookie Alexa Princi drove in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth, as the Amherst softball team defeated Brandeis College, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon. Full Story

April 13 - The Amherst softball team moved to 14-6 on the season with a doubleheader split with visiting Bates College on Thursday afternoon, suffering a 3-2 extra-inning loss in the opener before applying the mercy rule after five innings in the second game, 8-0. Full Story

April 12 - Junior shortstop Annalise Rodli went 4-for-8 with four RBI and three runs scored to lead Amherst to a doubleheader sweep of Westfield State in non-conference softball. The Jeffs took game one 5-1, and won the nightcap, 6-2. Full Story

April 10 - Amherst senior co-captain Miya Warner was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday after picking up her 10th straight victory on the mound this weekend with a win over Middlebury College. Full Story

Jeffs Split Twinbill with Middlebury
April 8 - The Amherst softball team notched its sixth consecutive victory in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader with Middlebury College, as they cruised 6-2, but Middlebury bounced back in the second game to split the twinbill with a tight 8-6 victory.  The Jeffs found themselves at 11-5 (3-1 NESCAC West) at day’s end, while Middlebury evened things out at 7-7 (3-1 NESCAC West). April 6 - The Amherst softball team posted its fifth straight victory on Thursday evening, topping non-conference host Wellesley College, 3-1. Senior hurler Miya Warner improved to 9-2 on the year as the Jeffs moved to 10-4, while Wellesley fell to 10-7. Full Story

March 20 - The Amherst softball team suffered a 12-3 defeat at the hands of NAIA defending national champion Simon Fraser University on Monday in the Sun West Tournament, hosted by Chapman University in Orange County, Calif., but rebounded to earn its first win of the season, a 12-4 pounding of Elmhurst College. Jeffs Suffer Season-Opening Losses to No. 15 St. Mary's, No. 1 St. Thomas
March 19 - The Amherst softball team suffered narrow losses to 15th-ranked St. Mary’s University, 1-0, and the top-ranked University of St. Thomas, 2-0, to open its season in Orange County, Calif. over the weekend. Senior pitcher Miya Warner was stellar on the mound in defeat, surrendering just four hits and one earned run in nine innings of work, while striking out eight in the two outings. Full Story

Talented Senior Contingent Leads Jeffs in 2006

February 23 - Amherst returns a talented senior class in 2006, including all-NESCAC co-captains hurler Miya Warners and outfielder Rachel Hoerger, and first baseman Laura Trigiero, and will count on their seasoned players to assume strong leadership roles. The squad will start off the season in a highly competitive tournament in Southern California before returning home for their conference slate as they aim to qualify for post-season play. Full Story

September 27 - Amherst senior Miya Warner was never the fastest or the strongest player on the team, sometimes having to settle for the title of youngest. But spunk and athletic cunning made up for what little she was given to start with, and she has developed into one of the most dominant softball pitchers in the NESCAC. Full Story
