No. 21 Jeffs Fall at 10th-Ranked Trinity, 5-2

HARTFORD, CT - The 21st-ranked Amherst College men’s tennis team fell at 10th-ranked Trinity college on Tuesday afternoon, 5-2. Sophomore Michael Mintz (New York, NY) and rookie Zach Lerner (Scarsdale, NY) picked up the lone Jeff victories as they dropped to 11-5 with the loss, while Trinity remained undefeated at 11-0.

Senior Danny Babkes (Baltimore, MD) and classmate Josh Rilla (Westboro, MA) took the No. 1 doubles match, 8-6, but it was not enough to secure the doubles point as the Bantams won the No. 2 and 3 bouts. Mintz won at No. 3 singles over Jimmie Ames, 6-3, 6-2, and Lerner was victorious at No. 5 over David Yahng, 6-1, 6-1. However, Trinity won the rest of the singles matches in straight sets to secure the win.

Amherst returns to action Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Tufts University.
