14th-Ranked Jeffs Snubbed at Cal Poly, 7-0 March 21, 2006 SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA - The Amherst College men’s tennis team suffered a 7-0 shutout loss at Division I opponent California Polytechnic State University on Tuesday, falling to 3-2 on the season. The host Mustangs refused to surrender a single set in the win, improving to 6-3 in match play. The closest match of the day came at No. 6 singles as Amherst sophomore Sam Maurey (Cape Elizabeth, ME) battled Cal Poly first-year Russell Meyerowitz (San Diego, CA) to a 7-6 loss in the first set, but fell 6-1 in the second.
