2005 Amherst Men's Lacrosse Milestones
TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Finished with an 11-4 overall record, 6-3 in conference play.
- Earned the third seed and a first-round home game in the NESCAC Postseason
Championship Tournament, where they hammered Conn. College 17-7 in
the first round before falling to Wesleyan 13-9 in the semifinals.
- Finished 11th in the nation in win percentage (73.3%) and 20th in
scoring margin (3.73). Also third in the NESCAC in goals (11.53 gpg),
assists (6.80 apg) and goals against average (7.80).

Senior Midfielder Andrew Syfu (Hobart, IN)
- Second-Team All-NESCAC.
Senior Co-Captain Goalie Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT)
- Second in the NESCAC and 17th in the nation in goals against average
(7.57). Also seventh in the NESCAC in save percentage (55.8%) and eighth
in saves (135).
Senior Attackman Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY)
- Tied for second in the NESCAC in goals (35), and fifth
in scoring (48 pts.).
Senior Defenseman Scott Aldrich (Wilmington, MA)
- NESCAC Spring All-Academic.
Senior Midfielder Josh Cherney (Chappaqua, NY)
- NESCAC Spring All-Academic.
Junior Long-Stick Midfielder Andrew Wilcox (Ancramdale, NY)
- Second-Team USILA
2005 STX-Geico All-America.
- First-Team ECAC Division III New England All-Star.

Junior Goalie Raul Altreche (Bronx, NY)
- Winner of the ECAC Award of Valor,
established in 1985, the award honors one student-athlete representing ECAC
schools in Divisions I, II and III whose courage, motivation and relentless
determination serve as an inspiration to all, exemplifying strength of character,
perseverance, and most importantly, accomplishment deserving recognition as
being truly triumphant.

Sophomore Attackman Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY)
- Honorable Mention USILA 2005 STX-Geico All-America.
- First-Team ECAC Division III New England All-Star.
- Co-NESCAC Player of the Year.
- First-Team All-NESCAC.
- Twentieth in the nation in scoring (4.53
ppg). Led NESCAC in scoring (68 pts.) and goals (39), and tied for
second in assists (29).
Sophomore Attackman Chris Hofmann (New Canaan, CT)
- Fifth
in the NESCAC in goals (34) and ninth in scoring (44 pts.).
