Jeffs Drop 15-9 Decision at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, ME – Despite three goals apiece from rookie Brett Miller (Wantagh, NY) and sophomore Will Ferrer (Greenwich, CT), the Amherst College men’s lacrosse team lost its sixth straight decision on Saturday – a 15-9 loss at Bowdoin College. The Jeffs fell to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while Bowdoin snapped a four-game losing streak of its own, improving to 8-4 (5-2 NESCAC).

Miller added an assist to go with his hat trick, and senior quad-captain Sean Murray (Madison, NJ) added a goal and a helper as well. First-year Tim Thornton (Rockville Centre, NY) and junior Chris Hoffman (New Canaan, CT) each posted a goal, and senior quad-captains Kevin Boova (Summit, NJ) and Andrew Wilcox (Ancramdale, NY) dealt one assist apiece. Senior Raul Altreche (Bronx, NY) was credited with nine saves in his first collegiate start in goal.

Connor Fitzgerald and Matt Chadwick paced the Polar Bears with three goals and three assists apiece, while Charlie Legg contributed nine saves in the victory.

The Jeffs return to action Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at NESCAC opponent Connecticut College.
