AMHERST, MA – After smashing her own conference record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at Saturday’s NESCAC championships en route to a first-place finish and automatic NCAA qualification, junior Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA) heads a list of nine runners to receive all-conference plaudits, as announced by the NESCAC on Wednesday.

Garrahan earned nods for her winning performances in both the steeplechase and the 5,000 meter run, while senior co-captain Ginger Polich (Ironwood, MI) also picked up a pair of honors, after taking third in the 800 meter run and leading the 4x800 meter relay team to second place. Sophomore Meg Ray (Menands, NY) and rookies Caitlin McDermott-Murphy (Newton, MA) and Zandra Walton (Skaneateles, NY) each earned their first career All-NESCAC honors in track and field, for their part in the 4x800 meter relay performance. Sophomore Heather Wilson (Danvers, MA) and first-year Kim Partee (Brentwood, TN) were recognized for their stellar 2-3 outing in the 10,000-meter run, while sophomore Katie Moravec (Chico, CA) got the nod for her third-place 5K finish. Junior Maria Millard (Orono, ME) rounded out Amherst all-conference squad, taking honors for the 400-meter hurdles.
