Jeffs Blanked at No. 15 Norwich, 7-0

NORTHFIELD, VT - The Amherst College Men's hockey team was blanked at 15th ranked Norwich University 7-0 on Friday night. Norwich used a four-goal second period to power the victory. Junior goaltender Josh Fillman (Charlestown, MA) made 37 saves in the loss as Amherst fell to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Norwich improved to 2-2-1 overall (2-0-1 ECAC East).

Norwich opened the scoring 45 seconds into the game and never looked back. Rick Cleaver (Parksville, BC) scored two goals while Jason Wilson (Johnston, RI), Garrett Winder (Ajax,ON), Nikita Kashirsky (Moscow, Russia), Mike Serba (Rexdale, ON), and Rico Piatelli (Danvers, MA) all added scores in the win. Winder and Serba each had two assists in the game as well. Jeff Knapp (Thunder Bay, ON) made 16 stops for Norwich in the shutout.

Amherst will look to bounce back when it travels to St. Michaels College tomorrow (Saturday) at 3 p.m.
