Jeffs Take Third At Little Three Championships

MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Amherst College men’s golf team wrapped up its 2005-06 slate on Wednesday afternoon with a third-place finish at the Little Three Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University. Amherst junior Sean Jules (Chicago, IL) and rookie Chris Valentine (Topsfield, MA) each took a singles match from Wesleyan, and the Jeffs defeated the Cardinals in three of four alternate-shot matches, but fell to Williams, 9-3, and Wesleyan, 7-5.

Jules halved with Williams’ Kevin Kennert in the No. 1 match and defeated his Wesleyan opponent 6 & 5, while Valentine downed his Cardinal foe 4 & 2. Juniors Drew Russ (Maui, HI) and Andy Bruns (Eaton, OH), and first-year Will Collins (Edina, MN) each halved with their Williams opponent.

Bruns and senior Keith Zalaski (Simsbury, CT) got a 2 & 1 win over Wesleyan, while Litt and Collins teamed up for a two stroke win over the Cardinals, and Jules and Russ pulled out a 7 & 5 win in the final alternate-shot match.
