Bedford Continues To Add Post-Season Accolades

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College men’s basketball senior co-captain John Bedford (Ridgewood, NJ) continues to add to his list of postseason awards this week, securing Third-Team All-America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3Hoops.com, along with All-Region recognition from the NABC and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Bedford was named First-Team All-Region by both the NABC and the ECAC. Completing one of the finest careers in school history, Bedford finished as Amherst’s third all-time leading scorer with 1,517 points. Having already been named Second-Team All-Northeast Region by D3Hoops.com and First-Team All-NESCAC, he led the Jeffs and finished among the NESCAC leaders in most statistical categories in his final campaign averaging 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals. Bedford shot a scorching 50.8% (528-for-1,039) for his career, including 44.4% (138-for-311) from behind the arc. He is also a member of the winningest graduating class in school history – 105 victories over four years.
As a junior, he claimed Honorable Mention Division III New England ECAC All-Star, Second-Team NABC All-Region, Third-Team D3Hoops.com All-Northeast Region and First-Team All-NESCAC honors.
Amherst finished this season with a school-record 28 wins and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament National Semifinals for the second time in the last three years.
