Amherst's Otieno Named NESCAC Football Offensive Player
of the Week

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College senior tailback Ngai Otieno (Gloucester,
MA/Tabor Academy) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after racking
up 104 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 15-0 shutout victory over
visiting conference rival Middlebury College. His three-yard touchdown
plunge in the fourth quarter sealed the victory as the Jeffs improved
to 2-1 on the season.
Otieno currently leads the NESCAC with 391 rushing yards on 63 carries,
averaging 130.3 yards per game and a gaudy 6.2 yards per carry. He also
ranks second in all-purpose yardage (137.7 ypg) and seventh in total
offense (130.3 ypg). He has three straight games with at least 100 yards
and a touchdown, tying him for third in the NESCAC in touchdown scoring
(6.0 ppg).
Amherst returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. at undefeated NESCAC foe
Colby College.
