AMHERST, MA – Amherst College first-year shortstop Angus Schaller (Leucadia, CA) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after going 6-for-9 in his first two collegiate games over the weekend in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Schaller smashed two home runs and a double en route to seven RBIs, including a three-run shot in his very first at bat in a Lord Jeff uniform. He was 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs in Saturday’s 10-9 extra-inning loss to the University of St. Thomas, and followed with a double and two RBIs in a 3-for-5 showing in a 12-6 win over Benedictine University.
Amherst returned to action this afternoon at 4 p.m. against Salisbury University in Fort Myers, Fla.
