AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College women’s basketball team posted its second straight blowout victory on Saturday afternoon, pounding visiting non-conference foe Clark University, 69-43, and snapping a streak of three consecutive losses to the Cougars. Sophomore Jenny Muller (Andover, MA) paced the Jeffs with 15 points and three steals.

Amherst used a balanced attack to build a 33-18 lead in the first half. Junior forward Katie Latham (Wakefield, MA) tallied seven first-half points, while Muller, junior Julie Smith (Villanova, PA) and rookie point guard Shaina Pollack (Great Neck, NY) added six apiece.

The Jeffs never looked back in the second half, leading by more than 20 points throughout the final 10 minutes. Pollack and Latham finished with nine points apiece, while Latham had eight rebounds as well. Amherst first-year forward Matia Kostakis (Andover, MA) chipped in eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds as the Jeffs improved to 6-2 with the win.

Sophomore center Ashley Auclair (Williamsburg, MA) and senior guard Abby Pineo (Gardner, MA) each had 10 points for Clark, while sophomore Kim Harris (Overland Park, KS) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds as the Cougars fell to 5-3.

Amherst returns to action on Thursday, January 6 at 7 p.m. at non-league foe Suffolk University.
