AMHERST, MA - Amherst College junior co-captain guard Krissy Morin (Litchfield, NH) earned New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after pouring in a game-high 15 points and netting a pair of free throws with 8.8 seconds remaining to propel the fifth-seeded Jeffs to a dramatic 55-53 win at fourth-seeded Wesleyan University in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament.

With the victory, Amherst (15-10) advances to the NESCAC semifinals for the first time since the 2000-01 season, where they’ll take on top-seeded and third-ranked host Bowdoin (22-2) Saturday at 2 p.m. Saturday’s second semifinal pits second-seeded and No. 1-ranked Bates (23-1) against third-seeded Williams (19-6). The winners will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. with the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at stake.

Morin has had an outstanding season for the Jeffs, leading the team and/or standing among the conference leaders in a variety of statistical categories, including free throw percentage (69.2%), assist/turnover ratio (1.01), assists (3.0 apg) and scoring (8.2 ppg). She’s an outstanding outdoor track athlete as well, earning All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors in the heptathlon as a sophomore.
