Jeffs to Visit Crocker Farm Elementary School

January 31, 2005

AMHERST, MA - Players and coaches from the Amherst College women’s basketball team will share community breakfast with the students at nearby Crocker Farm Elementary School in Amherst this Friday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., prior to that evening’s 5:30 p.m. game against visiting Williams College.

“It’s wonderful for us because it really extends the fact that there are great female role models out there for young students,” says Amherst co-head coach Billy McBride. “Our players come from many different parts of the country, and it’s a nice opportunity for these kids to meet and share breakfast with student-athletes from such diverse backgrounds that they can look up to.”

Amherst’s women stand at 12-6 overall and 3-2 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play entering Tuesday’s 6 p.m. non-league game against visiting Wesleyan. Friday’s women’s game against Williams will be followed by a men’s tilt at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $3.00 for adults. Amherst and Williams students with valid ID and children under 10 will be admitted free.

Amherst’s women last beat Williams 68-63 on Jan. 13, 2001. The Jeffs’ point guard that season was Amherst native Sara Bozorg ’03, a former student at Crocker Farm Elementary.
